The BNCs for the American Saddlebred Horse - conceived, initiated and administered by the ASAoGB – were established in 1997, and formed part of the main attractions at the one-day American and British show pioneered by Jackie James at the Great Leighs Showground in Essex.   This show was so successful that immediately it was tagged the ‘biggest one day horse show in Britain’, but it was disbanded by the founder for personal reasons and nothing has come along to take its place.

The BNCs for Saddlebreds was intended not to be annual as it was felt there were not enough active Saddlebreds in the country to make this feasible, but instead would be run on a cyclical basis thus allowing for new imports, new youngstock and new novices to become established.

Eleven of the Championship trophies are contributed by USA breeders, trainers and Saddlebred magazines.  All rosettes are acquired from the company in USA that supplies the World Championships and are the same design.
