From the Past

It has taken many years of intermittent effort but at last we are very pleased to have found 'the lost stallion' of the original golden Saddlebred imports from the 1960s.  Goldmount Majesty (aka Silence is Golden) was imported by Mrs Kemp, but changed hands in 1972 into the ownership of Miss Earle.  At 17hh he was the tallest palomino stallion in Britain at that time, and was used for dressage and jumping.  He moved on to the great pastures in the sky in late 1974, but we are delighted to be able to record his life (with pictures)  in our extensive Saddlebred archives.           Photo courtesy Miss Earle

OPEN DAY

The Visions Saddlebred Stud/ASAoGB HQ opened its facility to an invited audience from the locality and to members of the ASAoGB on Saturday 15th September.   Appreciation of the five imported horses on display has been shown in many ways – cards, emails, telephone calls, donations and gifts – encapsulated by the following card:  “Thank you very much indeed for a marvellous afternoon with your beautiful horses and your interesting and informative commentary. You deserve every success in bringing the American Saddlebred to well-deserved popularity in the UK. Can’t wait for the next time!”

We would like to thank Lord Gage and Lord Healey for making the presentation to Jane Green on the retirement from public life of her 22 year old harness/gaited gelding Will’s Gazette.  He has been a valued and prominent member of the ASAoGB display team for 11 years and we hope he enjoys his well earned retirement.

SHOW RESULTS

British Show Horse Association Championships, Addington Manor.  The inaugural classes of the ASAoGB at this major show were beleaguered by transport and travelling problems, equine and human illnesses, but nevertheless it was a wonderful day and resounding success.  Our class winners were:

Ridden – Harlem Bay;         In Hand – It’s Hammer All Around;

Part bred classes – Sandro.

CONGRATULATIONS one and all.
