A male horse is called Stallion while a female horse is called a Mare. Castrated male horses are called by a different name known as Geldings.

Young horses are called differently based upon their gender as well. A young male horse is called a Colt whereas young female horses are called Fillies.

An astounding feature about them is the fact that a newborn baby horse can walk and even run within a matter of few hours post birth.

The skeleton of a horse is made up of precisely 205 bones.

Trained and tamed horses usually live up to a lifespan of 25 years. However, a horse named Billy was recorded to be the oldest tamed and domestic horse which died at the record age of 62 years past.
